Do women sometimes have sex just for physical pleasure?

In other words, does there need to be love or friendship involved for women to enjoy the act. I am asking this because as a man I have never been involved sexually with women outside of a relationship. I have always avoided seeking casual sex with women because I don't know the answer to this question. Maybe I'm too old fashioned?
